Congratulations to Caroline Goodall and Charlotte Jones, overall winners at North Shore Bridge Club Intermediate Pairs 5B Tournament on 17th October. A great achievement for two Orewa players.

Caroline Goodall and Charlotte Jones have given Orewa Bridge Club another result to celebrate, taking overall honours at North Shore Bridge Club's Intermediate Pairs 5B Tournament.
The tournament forms part of the Auckland Northland Regional Committee's developing programme for Junior and Intermediate players. The initiative grew from a group of Intermediate players approaching the ANRC about creating more opportunities to compete regularly against players of a similar level across the Auckland region.
That idea has developed into separate Intermediate and Junior circuits, giving developing players more opportunities to gain tournament experience, build confidence and meet players from other clubs. It is an important step between regular club sessions and the wider competitive bridge scene.
Caroline and Charlotte's North Shore result is a particularly pleasing one for Orewa. Both have represented the club strongly, and their win shows what can come from taking those opportunities to play beyond the home club and test partnerships in tournament conditions.
The Junior and Intermediate circuits form the Auckland Region JIN Club Grand Prix, giving developing players a series of tournament opportunities across the region. Players can build experience over multiple events, test partnerships in competitive conditions and represent their clubs throughout the season.
Orewa Bridge Club is keen to support the initiative and to see more of our Junior and Intermediate players taking part. Results such as this are a good reminder that tournament bridge does not have to be reserved for experienced Open players; these circuits are specifically creating a pathway for players who are still developing their game.
Congratulations again to Caroline and Charlotte on an excellent result. We hope their success encourages more Orewa players to give the regional Junior and Intermediate events a try.
